Village Missions
We usually participate in a village mission every other month. The villages we typically visit are Rakai, Luwero, and Gulu. On village missions, we go to share love of Christ through action. Our building projects range from providing a chicken house for a primary school to constructing a nursery school to building a new house for our sponsored children living in need of shelter.
Life in the village is very different from life in a city with running water and electricity. We go as a team of Ugandans and international volunteers. We live together, eat together, and build together. While we usually stay in a simple house close to the main road and trading center of the area, be prepared to have no electricity, shower with a bucket of water, and use a squatty potty (hole in the ground toilet).

Rakai
Rakai is said to be the epicenter of AIDS in Africa. During the 1990's, almost 40% of the population were infected. Now many households are headed by the oldest child looking after their younger brothers and sisters. We partner with an organization called Send A Cow and help build a cow shelter and donate donate a dairy cow for a family or families of orphans. This cow helps create some self-sustainability for the family. We also help to build or repair houses for families, construct toilets, and build local stoves.
Luwero
Luwero is another village hit by AIDS where you find many chldren orphaned and living with grandparents or relatives. We partner with a school in Luwero to help with any building the school may need and provide chickens and a shelter for our sponsored children there. We also participate in school visits and home visits.
Gulu
Gulu has been ravaged by war for over 20 years. However, peace recently returned to the region in late 2006. We partner with a local church, minister to the congregation, go on home visits, visit the refugee camps, and do other projects that assist children affected by the war and/or abducted by the rebel army. We also help in building projects that assist a family, a school or the community.
