POWER OF TEN

The Power of Ten is a new partnership opportunity Empower A Child has launched for 2009.

With more than 50% of Uganda’s population under the age of 16, 2.3 million of those children are orphans, and 1 million of those children are orphans due to the AIDS epidemic. The majority of the next generation is growing up in such extreme conditions and does not leave much room for improvement in the future of the country’s development.

Empower A Child seeks to alleviate this problem through creating a modern skills training center for the orphaned and vulnerable youth of Uganda. This training center will house computers, kitchen and catering equipment, sewing machines, carpentry and construction tools, modern farming equipment and much more. In depth training sessions will be offered in all areas in order to increase the students’ marketability in the job market as well as helping them create their own businesses.

We want to empower these children and turn them into job creaters rather than job seekers. We believe they are the solution to their own development as well as their country’s development. They are the future leaders of Uganda!

However, none of this change is possible without God who is able to do the impossible. At the core of all we do we believe change will never come to a person’s life much less a country unless God is at the center of it all. Not only will the training center train students in hands-on skills but also in Biblical knowledge and discipleship.

Just as we believe every child in Uganda can make a difference in their country, we also believe everyone in America, UK, Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand can make a difference in Ugandan’s lives. The cost of constructing this training center is approximately $600,000. Alone this amount looks impossible but together we can raise this amount of money in one year!

Empower A Child is looking for 5,000 people to commit to give $10 a month for 12 months. With 5,000 people giving $10 a month we’ll see this training center complete in one year!
