SHORT TERM MISSION TRIPS

Individual Short-term Mission Trips:

Short-term missions trips range from 2 weeks to 2 months. Volunteers are welcome to come as individuals and join our weekly outreach programs as well as volunteer in a project of their choice. Many people come volunteer in projects such as visiting orphanages or babies’ homes, joining a sports ministry outreach for street children, teaching in a school for orphans and vulnerable children, sharing the love of Christ in a children's hospital, preparing skits and outreaches for high school students, or working in a medical clinic.

Group Short-term Mission Trips:

Churches, youth groups, school groups, clubs, and small groups are welcome to partner with us in short-term mission trips. Due to the work schedules and other commitments of team members we usually find about two weeks is a good length for these types of trips. However, any length, be it 3 weeks, 1 month, etc and what is accomplished on the trip can be decided by the team leader based on the teams interest and experience. The trip would end with a three-day safari in one of Uganda's or Kenya's national parks.

Safaris are conducted by View Africa Tour Specialists, a safari company set-up to give back. 100% of all profits on these safaris go back to support the work of Empower A Child. See them at www.viewafricasafari.com.

Church and Youth Groups

Church and youth groups can partner with us for a mission trip that can have a big impact on a family of orphans. Our two week trips usually so as follows; the first week the team will join our weekly outreach programs and the second week the team will be in the village helping to build a house for a widow and a family of orphans. The trip would end with a three-day safari in one of Uganda's or Kenya's national parks.

Teachers and Students

We invite high school and college students and teachers to join us for a trip to Africa. This trip is designed to broaden the students’ worldview as well as give students an opportunity to give back. The team is usually placed in a high school or secondary school in Uganda or Kenya for a few days, interacting with the students, helping teach lessons similar to lessons they’ve been learning in their classes, such as Literature, English, Algebra, Geometry, etc, and sharing about how schools operate in their home country. The team will also have the opportunity to volunteer in various projects around Kampala and Nairobi such as orphanages, babies’ homes, street kids’ homes, etc. Construction projects and community clean-up projects are also available to such teams. The trip would end with a three-day safari in one of Uganda or Kenya's national parks, thus giving the students the opportunity to experience all different avenues of African culture.

Medical Teams

Groups of doctors, nurses and dentist can fill a tremendous need in the villages of Uganda and Kenya. Many people in the village don’t have easy access to medical clinics and often go without treatment. On these trips medical professionals will partner with Ugandan and Kenyan doctors and dentists traveling to remote villages to provide free medical clinics for the people. The trip would end with a three-day safari in one of Uganda's or Kenya's national parks.

Construction Teams

Empower A Child has many construction opportunities for teams wanting to spend their time in Uganda and Kenya building. Teams can build houses for widows and orphans, corrals for livestock, and be a part of building the Empower A Child training center. These teams can be experienced construction workers in their own profession or individuals wanting to do heavy hands-on work. The trip would end with a three-day safari in one of Uganda's or Kenya's national parks.
